There are many different types of organisation in Britain from heritage bodies, to tourism associations and those which have a specific remit such as motoring. This page aims to provide information on the many organisations which are concerned about the life and people of Great Britain. The following are included: Heritage Organisations: Motoring Organisations: Tourist Information Offices: The National Trust and the National Trust for Scotland are major organisations keeping historically noteworthy buildings and monuments in care for future generations. They also look after areas of outstanding beauty such as main miles of coastline and countryside. English Heritage look after ancient monuments such as ruined castles and sites such as Stonehenge. The Automobile Association (AA) and the Royal Automobile Club (RAC) give breakdown cover to members and also provide travel and navigation information. They also act as a lobbying body to government. The Tourist Information service operates offices throughout the country organised on a regional basis. Local literature on travel, things to do and places to stay can be sent to you free of charge.
